With its jagged granite cliffs, crystal-clear lakes, and, breathtaking landscapes, the Eastern Sierra has found a place in our hearts. Ryan’s grandma owns a cabin in the charming community of Aspendell just outside Bishop, and we visit the area 3-4 times a year through the different seasons.
Whether it’s hiking / backpacking, boating, or just going for a drive, we are always learning about new areas to explore. The Eastern Sierras has become an important backdrop to our relationship and it’s only fitting to share it with all of our friends and family for this special occasion.
Cardinal Village Resort
For nearly a decade, we’ve known that we wanted to get married at Cardinal Village Resort. Whenever we’re in Aspendell, we always visit Cardinal and over the years have come to appreciate the friendly people, delicious food, and charming atmosphere.
Originally a mining camp for the Cardinal Mine, Cardinal Village has become a “resort” with a cafe, general store and fishing cabin rentals run by the same family for generations. Originally, the cabins were miner’s cabins but have since been retrofitted. The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch, with a “secret” menu item of breakfast burritos. A burger with a slice of pie will fill any hungry hiker’s stomach.
While we are hoping everyone can stay in the cabins, there may not be enough room. Additionally, some people (if comfortable with it) can share cabins, with separate bed rooms. We will coordinate with you if you are interested in renting a cabin.
We have also requested a group rate at a hotel in Bishop, which is a 20min drive down the mountain and on the Owen’s Valley floor. Additionally, we have a group campsite reserved for anyone who wants to camp (just make sure to bring cold-weather camping gear!) Please visit our Accommodations page for more details.

Weather can vary between sunny & warm, overcast & rainy, to breezy & cold. We suggest packing a warm jacket, some wool under layers, and hats/gloves for maximum comfort once the sun has gone down.
